The
Community House is the focal point of activities in North Rosedale Park.
It is used on a daily basis by the Civic Association and such groups as
the Scouts, Park
Players. The Community House, built in 1939, replaced the old "Club House" built fifteen years earlier. The six acre "Park" surrounding the Community House has a playground, a baseball diamond and three soccer fields. On a daily basis, hundreds of people take advantage of the Park's safe and beautiful environment for walking and jogging. In winter, two soccer fields are flooded for ice skating. This is the largest privately owned park in Detroit. The building and surrounding park are owned by the members of the North Rosedale Park Civic Association. Maintenance and improvement of the grounds are paid through Civic Association dues and rental of the Community House.

"Funds for construction of a new Community House had been solicited for several years through 20 year, no-interest bond sales. $40,000 was finally raised and ground was broken for the new Community House on March 29, 1939. On August 11, 1939 the first Civic Association meeting was held. In 1944, association members forgave $20,000 of indebtedness, $5,000 of which was contributed by members who had not participated in the original drive." A Quarter Century in North Rosedale Park, 1948.
